Sherry Turkle Discusses Technology and Its Impact on Students

In an age where people use computers to find love and social networking sites to build online relationships, one MIT professor is issuing a warning on how technology is changing our mindset and setting some dangerous precedents.  Turkle has released a new book titled, “Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other” where she talks about how society is becoming less human. As a clinical psychologist, Turkle has been studying the phenomenon on how computers are changing people for years and she talks about it frequently. In November 2009 Turkle spoke at Harvard about digital technology and its effects on students. Many students are viewing technology not as gadgets, but rather as extensions of their mind.
