Yahoo! is such a big organization with so many services that it may be easy to overlook the company’s good matchmaking abilities. Yahoo! Personals offers many communication mediums for singles and a “five-star safety program” that they outline on their site (does not include background checks).

LavaLife
Already the largest online dating service in Canada, LavaLife is quickly gaining ground in other countries as well as it popularity grows.  LavaLife is split into sections you can visit like Dating, Relationship, and Intimate. You open a profile in whatever area interests you the most.

Date.com
Date.com was established in 1997, so they’ve been around awhile with the goal of helping “online singles find their perfect dates”. Date.com says that the majority of its members are “college educated professionals who live in large cities or nearby suburbs.”

Chemistry.com is fairly new to the marketplace and has tried to turn eHarmony’s weaknesses into Chemistry.com’s success. The service is owned by Match.com, but is more relationship-minded.

PerfectMatch
PerfectMatch has had more exposure in movies and on TV shows than any other online dating service. The service offers Duet compatibility matching and several other tools to help find “the right one”. It also features relationship advice from Dr. Pepper Schwartz.

Matchmaker
Matchmaker is owned by Date.com, but is much more relationship-minded. Besides in-depth profiles, Matchmaker also offers Instant Messaging, video and voice greetings, a chat room, and keyword search to better find who you are looking for. According to Matchmaker, their goal is “to broaden your social horizons, and our belief is that by meeting a variety of people, you will find that special someone. And that can happen a lot sooner than you think.”
