(Online Dating Tonight) We’re pleased to bring you a weekly animated program that is called Online Dating Tonight. Online Dating Tonight is an animated talk show about Internet dating that is produced by Online Dating Magazine and airs once a week. The program launched in mid-March and already has 6 episodes under its belt.

The below video is the first episode of Online Dating Tonight that deals with the topic of Online Dating Statistics. The host of Online Dating Tonight is “Cassandra” and her special guest for the first episode is online dating expert, “Alex”. BTW – if you are a Webmaster, you should embed these videos on your site as the show gives “shout outs” to the sites that send the most traffic (according to YouTube stats for the video). A shout-out means your site is mentioned on a show, shown in text on the show, and linked to from the YouTube page the episode appears on. You can keep up to date on all new episodes as they are released by Subscribing.

In an age where people use computers to find love and social networking sites to build online relationships, one MIT professor is issuing a warning on how technology is changing our mindset and setting some dangerous precedents.  Turkle has released a new book titled, “Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other” where she talks about how society is becoming less human. As a clinical psychologist, Turkle has been studying the phenomenon on how computers are changing people for years and she talks about it frequently. In November 2009 Turkle spoke at Harvard about digital technology and its effects on students. Many students are viewing technology not as gadgets, but rather as extensions of their mind. It’s a fascinating talk as you can see for yourself below…

MIT Professor Sherry Turkle has released a new book titled Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other in which she contends that using social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter (along with social enabled cell phones) are making you “less human”. Her new book contends that the more humans turn their attention to computers, social networking, and cell phones, the more robotic we become as a society. Society will one day will share emotion more with computers and robots than other humans which can be dangerous. While people assume that social networking sites are building human relationships, it’s the opposite according to Turkle. We are building relationships with computers and technology – not humans. In essence, the more dependent we become on technology, the less human we become. Technology is teaching us to avoid human relationships versus improving our relationships with each other.

What do you think?

In life we make choices about what we say and about what we allow fear to keep us from saying. And as a result, things that could have been never materialize. We may look back at a certain point of our life and say, “why didn’t I do that differently” or “what would it have hurt to ask so and so out”. This cute little video uses a chat session between a guy and a girl to get the point across about the importance of self expression… about the importance of telling someone how you feel. Go ahead and pay that compliment to that special person today and let them know you’re thinking of them…
